Eastern Virginia Medical School (EVMS) in Norfolk, Va. Houses a 555-bed general hospital and a 206-bed children’s hospital across multiple facilities.
Well-rounded education and training led EVMS to its ranking as the 49th best medical school in the U.S. for primary care and is in the top 100 schools for research.
To keep the large, fast-paced medical school running efficiently, a Best Plumbing Specialties sales representative, Larry Herman, personally visits EVMS to determine what the right parts are for the job. “Larry is by far the best (pun intended) Sales Rep I deal with on a constant basis,” Mike Russo, a facilities worker at EVMS said in an online questionnaire. “His personality is awesome.”
Russo maintains the facilities and operations of EVMS, a large job for such a large medical school. EVMS has a campus buzzing with 1,359 students, 369 medical residents, interns and fellows, and provided care to 415,203 patients in 2018.
The most memorable product that Best Plumbing Specialties has provided to keep Russo’s job going is Green Fix, a part of the company’s own line of chemicals. “No more smelly drains,” Russo said, Green Fix efficiently cleared up the odors in EVMS drains.
Green Fix is a saturated paraffin oil, which allows it to work by sitting above the water inside of drain traps, preventing odors and drain flies from permeating the trap. The chemical is easy for facilities personnel like Russo to use because it can be applied straight from the bottle to the source—just add it and forget it.
Herman has expressed incredible amounts of enthusiasm for being the representative who can go “above and beyond” for people working in facilities positions like Russo.
